For many real estate professionals, short sales and foreclosures represent the new “traditional” real estate transaction. Knowing how to maneuver the complexities of short sales as well as how to identify the distinct real estate opportunities in foreclosure are not merely good skills to have in today’s market—they are critical. This course helps students evaluate all available options for distressed homeowners and identify the components of an effective short-sale package. This course looks at how real estate professionals can counsel buyer-clients in the purchase of foreclosure properties. And as a practical resource, this course shows students how consumers can avoid foreclosure in the future.The Short Sales and Foreclosure course counts towards earning NAR’s Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource certification as well as one REBAC elective course to be applied towards the ABR® designation.

Becoming SFR Certified

The path to pursuing the SFR certification is straightforward. Follow these steps:

  • Be a member in good standing of the National Association of REALTORS®
  • Complete REBAC’s Short Sales and Foreclosure Course
  • Complete only ONE of the following elective requirements
  1. Complete three 1-hour Webinars (Webinars available free of charge) Click here
  2. HAFA Short Sales – U.S. Treasury, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac Programs Course
  3. REO Properties: Responsibilities, Education, and Opportunities for Real Estate Professional
  • To submit the application must include one time application fee of $175 via email, you must save the application to your desktop as a document and then email to SFR@realtors.org as an attachment.
  • After submitting application, SFR® Department will notify you once your application has been approved.
  • There are no recurring fees to maintain certification

REFUND POLICY: If the program is cancelled by Hogan School, a full refund will be given. Any cancellations received less than 48 hours from class start date will be subject to a $50 cancellation fee.

When taking the ABR® course, why not take it from the very person who wrote the book? Curtis Hall co-authored the ABR® course in 1993 and is a full-time real estate practitioner in Phoenix, Arizona. This ABR® course is a real-world learning experience in which Curtis demonstrates his unique methodologies used in his own active real estate practice to differentiate his services from the competition. Curtis has sat on more than twelve local REALTOR Association and NAR committees and was awarded REALTOR of the Year by his local Association. As a participant on several Professional Standards committees and with his expertise in all aspects of risk management, Curtis is called upon frequently by the legal community as an expert witness.

 

Jim HoganSingin’ Jim Hogan, DREI, ABR, GREEN, SFR
A REALTOR® since 1971, Jim is also a real estate investor. As an educator, he has helped “billions” begin and sustain successful real estate careers. His door is always open to anyone with a question or seeking advice. He and Curtis Hall developed the Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council’s “HAFA Short Sales: US Treasury, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac programs,” course and teach Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designation classes throughout Arizona & Hawaii. Jim was one of the first educators to be awarded the Real Estate Educators Association’s Distinguished Real Estate Instructor (DREI) designation. In 2002 Jim was inducted into the REBAC Hall of Fame. In 2009 Hogan School received NAR’s GREEN REsource Council’s “Provider of the year” award. Jim serves on many committees with ADRE and is called upon frequently by the legal community as an expert witness.
