31m763jkdcl_sl500_aa280_1In our recent NAR GREEN Designation course we asked students to come up with open house ideas in order to promote a home with GREEN features. Here are some of their ideas:

  • Donna Berger says, “Use placards, tent cards or note cards in the open house to point out “invisible” GREEN features such as insulation, roofing materials, water heater systems and energy ratings. “
  • John Eisele says, “Use CFL bulbs throughout the home. “
  • Claire Jean Prager says, “Create an online promo of the home identifying the GREEN features. You could place the video promo on YouTube, your blog, your website, your Facebook account and other video sharing websites. “
  • Chris Bale says, “Display the utility bills for an energy efficient home. Make certain you have a disclaimer that the buyer’s energy usage may vary depending on their personal habits and practices.”
  • Tony Ray Baker says, “Use organic cleaners and eco-friendly products when cleaning and prepping the home for showing. Avoid high VOC cleaners and toxic compounds.”
  • Janet Petzler says, “Add sign riders to your for sale sign that highlight GREEN features such as ‘energy efficiency’.”
  • Lonnie Workman says, “Create a separate showing sheet that highlights and lists all of the home’s GREEN features so that you can distribute it to buyers.
  • Bret Holland says, ” Have the seller obtain an energy audit or report so that there is third party verification of the home’s GREEN features.
  • Barrie Herr says, “Recraft your open house give away items to reflect GREEN vendors and GREEN messages.
